Rufus Schellenberg was one of the founding members of the Alberta Guild of English Handbell Ringers and was instrumental in the forming of the first Board and obtaining our registered not-for-profit status.
Throughout his life Rufus quietly worked away supporting bell ringing in and around his community of Olds, greatly helped by the purchasing of his own set of bells and initially running a choir in his basement.
Rufus Schellenberg passed away in March 2018. His contribution to ALGEHR and the handbell community is acknowledged by the Schellenberg Session. This workshop, with the theme of ‘bells in the community’ is held at the annual Discovery workshop.
